Genetic Diversity and Relationships of Opium Poppy Accessions Based on SSR Markers

چکیده
Opium poppy is one of the most important medicinal plant species cultivated in several regions world for pharmaceutical and food purposes. Although it has been bred used many countries centuries, taxonomical studies on intraspecific variability are still not numerous. In course this study, genetic diversity 58 opium accessions were assessed with SSR markers. Out 25 tested markers, only 19 showed successful amplification seven found to reveal polymorphism. These markers produced 2–11 alleles within size range 144–280 bp. PIC value varied between 0.284 0.767, expected heterozygosity was 0.136 1, observed 0.344 0.794. Altogether, a low found, have characterized same allele profile. The clustering PCoA co-ordinate system indicates four groups, which confirmed by STRUCTURE analysis as well reflects known relationships hybrid cultivars cases. landrace taxa clearly deviate from majority selected industrial applied able distinguish genotypes according their geographic origin or seed color. However, cases, grouping reflected diversification connected alkaloid content petal color accessions. Our results demonstrate importance further molecular marker focusing different useful agronomical traits order establish more effective breeding.

Growth, Opium Gum Yield, and Photoperiod Response of Five Opium Poppy Accessions
Flowering time, growth, and opium gum yield from five seed sources (T, L, B1, B2, B3) of opium poppy (Papaver somniferum L.) collected from different latitudes in three Southeast Asian countries were determined. Plants were grown in six growth chambers at a 11-, 12-, 13-, 14-, 15-, or 16-hour photoperiod with a 12-hour, 25/20 °C thermoperiod. Flower initiation was observed under a dissecting mi...

Fifteen expressed sequence tag (EST)-derived simple sequence repeats (EST-SSRs) were used to investigate genetic diversity in 139 plants obtained from seeds of 35 watermelon accessions collected from all the geographical provinces of Zimbabwe. In addition, 15 plants representing three commercial varieties developed in the United States (USA) were analyzed for comparison. A total of 65 alleles w...
